Technology
Entrupy is a US technology company that developed a machine authentication system for luxury goods. Its solution is used by professional resale operators worldwide; publicly named clients include StockX, Max Pawn, Clothes Mentor and Goodwill. The technology has received the Edison Award and AI Breakthrough Award. Verity applies this technology in Russia, providing authentication services to companies.
A modern counterfeit handbag may be made from similar leather, with comparable hardware and a stitch pitch close to the original. Held in the hand, such an item can mislead even an experienced appraiser. The differences remain at a level the human eye cannot resolve: the microstructure of the leather fibre, the character of the cut and the embossing, the microrelief of engraving on metal, the regularity of the weave and the seam.
That is the level the Entrupy protocol captures. The item is photographed under high magnification from a fixed set of angles, and the algorithm compares those images against a database of authentic examples of the same brand, analysing millions of data points per check. A magnified image is more informative here than an inspection in person.
A traditional appraisal is one person's judgement, and it cannot be reproduced: a second specialist may reach a different conclusion, and any conclusion is open to dispute between buyer and seller. An Entrupy result is reproducible: it is produced by an algorithm, does not depend on who examined the item, and cannot be biased in favour of either side of a deal. For a pawn shop, a consignment store or a resale platform this is decisive: the conclusion becomes a record rather than an opinion.
Each completed check produces a digital certificate of authenticity with the date, the item details and a QR code that allows the certificate itself to be verified at any time. The full history of checks, their statuses and certificates is stored in the Verity app and is available to the partner company as reporting under the agreement.
If the photographs are insufficient, the system requests a retake — re-imaging and repeat analysis are part of the service. If the model is absent from the Entrupy reference database, the check is technically impossible and such an order is not billed.

Monthly, in arrears: at the end of each month we reconcile the authentications actually performed and issue an invoice under the service agreement. No prepayment is required.

A photo-based appraisal is a human judgement that cannot be reproduced and is easy to dispute. Entrupy analyses the microstructure of the material, the seam, the embossing and the microrelief of the hardware, and compares them against a database of authentic items. The conclusion is produced by an algorithm, so the same images yield the same result regardless of who examined the item.

The check is technically impossible and the service is not billed. That outcome means only that the model is absent from the reference database; it is not a finding of counterfeit.
